How to design the position of clothing buttons and buttonholes

In the changing styles of clothing, various buttons can be used. The designer must refer to the front center line position and the waist button position as much as possible according to the style. In the single row and double row button styles, attention should be paid to the distance between the buttonholes and the corresponding edges and the center line, so as to adjust the tightness of the clothes and ensure that the seam edge is kept in an appropriate position.
The middle and upper eye position is the most important. It shall be marked on the horizontal line with the base point of the barge line.
The waist is also very important. It is often located above or below the waist line. In the connection type jacket, there is only one button, which is always located 2cm above the waist line to prevent the butt from arching. The current style mostly uses the middle button or the lowest button, while in the traditional style, the narrow LAPEL SUIT often uses the high button position. Two buttons are more convenient. The distance between buttonholes depends on the style. Generally, the distance between buttonholes is at least 6cm and at most 1.5cm.
In the style, the distance between the button and the buttonhole to the corresponding edge is theoretically equal or basically equal. This is especially suitable for the narrow placket style, because here, the button means to be on the front midline. In fact, the buttonhole of a suit is usually very close to the seam line, about 1 ~ 2cm. The buttons are often sewn on the inner side of the seam edge, and sometimes move inward or outward to adjust the tightness of the garment. In this way, we do not have to move the distance of the anterior midline.
In the style, the distance between the double row buttons and the front center line is mainly determined by the width of the placket. This style usually has a wide lapel, with the button below or above the waist line. The distance between the double row buckle and the front midline is close, usually 6 ~ 8cm; For the traditional style of low butt and low button, the distance is usually 9cm, or even 10cm.
When designing the buttons and buttonholes of the double breasted suit jacket, the position of the buttonholes on the top is usually marked 1 ~ 2cm away from the side. Then, for the convenience of sewing, the distance from the front center line is measured on the opposite side to determine the second button position line. On the bottom flap, the single row of buttonholes are usually closer to the seam than the buttons measured inside, so as to keep the seam edge of the lower folding door in a proper position.
